Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC has opened a 51,000-sq.-ft. addition to its Huntington Distribution Center in Huntington, IN. The new building provides 20% additional floor space to accommodate continued business growth, said the company.
Company executives from both the corporate office in Elyria, OH, and global headquarters in Germany participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local plant employees to officially open the facility on May 12. Terry Abbett, Mayor of Huntington, presented plant officials with a key to the city.
“It’s exciting to be part of a growing, global company here in Huntington, and our people have played a very vital role in the success of our local operations,” said Michael Pogorelc, plant manager, Bendix Huntington. “Expanding our distribution facility, combined with existing programs aimed at maximizing our production capability and capacity, will continue to position us well for the future.”
The integration of aftermarket brake components for Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC, the Bendix joint venture with Dana Corp., was the catalyst that drove the facility’s expansion. In addition, the facility is expanding its employee cafeteria, building an employee fitness center, and adding an internal office complex to house a new training center.
Bendix employs more than 400 people at its Huntington operations, which it said makes it one of the top employers in Huntington County, Indiana.
