Carrier bringing out new data loggers

Feb 13, 2007 11:00 AM

A series of new data loggers for its trailer refrigeration systems are coming from Carrier Transicold. They are designed specifically to beef up a fleet’s ability to monitor the condition of perishable products during refrigerated transport.

The data loggers come from Sensitech, a sister United Technologies company to Carrier. The new logging systems include: TempTale4 ambient temperature monitors, TempTale4 temperature and humidity monitors and Ryan EZT strip chart recorders.

These battery-powered devices allow for temperature monitoring beyond the refrigerated travel timeframe. “They are a natural extension of our capabilities in support of the cold chain,” said Ralph Bott, general manager of Carrier Transicold’s replacement components group.

“They can travel with cargo from the point of origin to the final destination, providing greater peace of mind to a carrier or a customer that shipment and storage temperatures were maintained within acceptable ranges,” he added.

Bott noted that both the TempTale4 monitors are high-precision electronic instruments designed for long-term reliability, while the single-use Ryan EZT recorders offer a much lower-cost way to record data for use by carriers, shippers and receivers alike.
