Con-way Freight has opened a new facility in Fond du Lac, WI. The $8-million freight operations center will serve as the local hub from which the company will provide daily P&D services for businesses throughout the greater Fond du Lac metro area and surrounding communities.
The facility covers 47, 000 sq ft and employees more than 100 persons in a variety of jobs, including driver sales reps, operations support, sales, customer service and administration. The opening of the new center has created nearly 60 additional jobs for the community.
The service center also provides additional capacity and operating efficiencies as it allowed for the consolidation of smaller facilities previously located in Fond du Lac, Sheboygan and Neenah into a larger, more cost-effective single facility, Con-way Freight said.
“This is a significant investment for Con-way Freight that reinforces our commitment to providing Wisconsin businesses with superior freight service for more than 30 years,” said John McCutcheon, Con-way Freight’s director of operations-- Milwaukee region.
“The increased capacity and additional jobs here in Fond du Lac will help us better serve the needs of the community, while enabling us to grow with our customers and continue delivering the industry’s fastest, most reliable and consistent quality service,” he added.
The new center opens with 96 dock doors and can be expanded over time to 120 as business grows. It provides the carrier with the capacity to move over 1.6-million lbs of freight a day.
