ConocoPhillips lubes gain certifications

ConocoPhillips Co. has announced that its line of API CJ-4 diesel engine oils are compliant with the new Caterpillar Engine Crankcase Fluid (ECF) -2 and ECF-1-a specifications.

These products, which were previously qualified as Cat ECF-3, were designed for use in 2007 or later model engines equipped with diesel particulate filters (DPF) and catalysts for exhaust aftertreatment, according to Reginald Dias, director, commercial products, ConocoPhillips Lubricants.

“We’re pleased that by meeting Cat ECF-2 and ECF-1-a certifications, our API CJ-4 products are now approved for use in a wide range of Caterpillar off-highway equipment that would have previously required alternative engine oils,” said Dias.

ConocoPhillips API CJ-4 products now approved as ECF-3, ECF-2 and ECF-1-a compatible are:

  • Guardol ECT, Synthetic Blend 15W40
  • Fleet Supreme EC, 15W40
  • Kendall Motor Oil Super-D X, Synthetic Blend 15W40

In addition, ConocoPhillips’ entire line of API CI-4 Plus engine oils are now certified as Cat ECF-2 and Cat ECF-1-a. These products are primarily designed for use in equipment manufactured prior to 2007 and in off-highway equipment not requiring API CJ-4 oils. The API CI-4 Plus products that meet the ECF-2 and ECF-1-a certifications include the following multigrade engine oils are:

  • 76 Guardol QLT
  • 76 T5X Heavy Duty
  • Conoco HYDROCLEAR Power-D
  • Conoco HD Fleet Supreme
  • Kendall Motor Oil Super-D3
  • Phillips 66 Super HD II
