Human resources manager Jerry Mainstone said the decision to close was made by the company's shareholders, who cited the economic slowdown and higher insurance costs that ate away at profits.

AMT, whose largest customer was auto supplier Denso Manufacturing Michigan Inc., will provide severance packages to its work force, which includes 36 truck drivers.
