Trucking and warehousing company AMT Freight Inc. told employees and customers that it will cease operations at year's end, leaving 130 full-time, part-time and temporary workers without jobs.
Human resources manager Jerry Mainstone said the decision to close was made by the company's shareholders, who cited the economic slowdown and higher insurance costs that ate away at profits.
AMT, whose largest customer was auto supplier Denso Manufacturing Michigan Inc., will provide severance packages to its work force, which includes 36 truck drivers.
