Internet-based risk management firm U.S. Search has unveiled Security Plus, a specialized package of services to perform background checks on workers involved in the airline and transportation industries.

Security Plus said it is an online security background-checking package designed to perform checks on those involved with the 80,000 trucking companies hauling hazardous materials and all airport and airline employees with access to airliners and secure areas at the nation’s 420 commercial airports.

The system traces and verifies social security numbers, conducts criminal background checks, previous employment checks, motor vehicle records and conducts a credit history check. Drug screening is also available.

"Successfully conducting the background checks and obtaining the results is only part of the task of enabling security at our airlines, airports and other transportation companies," explained Mal Ransom, executive vp for U.S. Search. "It is necessary to get the search results quickly to the employers so appropriate decisions can be made."
