Diesel Price Skyrockets

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel jumped $0.035 cents per gallon this week to $1.529, the highest since the national average reached $1.539 a gallon on January 29.

The biggest regional increase was in the Midwest, where the price rose from $1.535 to $1.588 per gallon. California had a $0.016 increase to $1.617. The Lower Atlantic region showed the lowest prices at $1.421.

According to Oil Price Information Service, the national average has jumped $0.061 in May.
