FORT LAUDERDALE— Elkhart, IN-based Actia Corp. announced yesterday at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s annual meeting it is making its Pattern Recognition technology for performance-based diagnostics available to North American-based engine manufacturers.

The company said Pattern Recognition amounts to extremely smart diagnostics that enable prognostic maintenance. Actia explained the technology “works by learning and creating a reference database for normal and common failures, followed by analysis and diagnosis of real-time failure.”

If adopted by an engine maker, according to Actia, its technology can provide prognostics by being embedded as an on-board diagnostic solution or integrated into a service tool.

Actia said Pattern Recognition technology is capable of detecting performance degradation in a variety of systems not monitored directly by an engine ECU, such as air intake, fuel systems, and some EGR systems.
