Logistics.com seals deal with PPG

Internet logistics provider Logistics.com has closed a deal to provide PPG Industries, an $8.6 billion manufacturer of coatings, glass, fiberglass and chemicals, with its OptiManage transportation management and execution system.

In the initial stage of the OptiManage introduction, Logistics.com will handle order management, consolidation, routing, selection, tendering, tracking and tracing of 2,200 to 2,500 loads per week and at peak performance will handle nearly 4,000 loads per week or over 200,000 annually, the company said.

As part of the agreement, Logistics.com will manage PPG’s relationship with more than 80 transport providers, most of which are already connected to Logistics.com via the Internet or Electronic Data Interface (EDI), the company said.
