New Penn Motor Express is expanding its operations in Vermont, with a new terminal in Williston that will also serve part of upstate New York.

"The terminal completes our coverage of the Northeast and significantly enhances our New England service, positioning New Penn for future growth within the New England market," said Stephen O'Kane, president of Lebanon, PA-based New Penn.

New Penn's expansion into Vermont comes hard on the heels of similar moves by competitor Con-Way Central Express (CCX), a regional subsidiary of less-than-truckload (LTL) conglomerate Con-Way Transportation Services. CCX opened its third Vermont-based service center - also located in Williston - at the beginning of March.
