Paccar Parts has agreed to catalog and distribute IntraUSA Group’s DC power management products to Kenworth Truck Co. and Peterbilt Motors dealers throughout North America. IntraUSA said this agreement is its first major truck OEM parts contract. The company said that contract negotiations are “in the works” with other major OEM parts divisions.

Tukwila WA-based IntraUSA said Paccar Parts’ first “sizeable” order includes IntraUSA’s low-voltage disconnect (LVD) and Jump-Start Prevention Kit. The company said its LVD product is a cost-effective switch that allows truck drivers to enjoy the comfort of electrical appliances on the road -- while preserving battery power needed to start the engine.

Using patented technology, the LVD monitors battery levels, automatically disconnecting non-critical power loads when battery voltage reaches critical levels, significantly reducing the need for jump-starts and extends the life of costly replacement items, such as starters and batteries.

The Jump-Start Prevention Kit is designed for truck fleets and dealers with dormant or standing vehicles. IntraUSA said that, due to the electronics found on today’s heavy-duty truck, it takes as little as a week for a dormant vehicle to draw down its battery to the point that it cannot be started.
