Savi Technology plans to acquire CanTRACK, a two-year-old manufacturer of software designed to monitor and ensure the security of air cargo containers and their contents as they travel between modes. Terms were not disclosed.

Sunnyvale, CA-based Savi said CanTRACK's software, combined with its real-time supply chain tracking systems, should enable air freight carriers, shippers, and third-party logistics companies to help protect air cargo shipments while improving asset utilization and operational efficiency.

CanTRACK's Internet-based software will be incorporated into Savi's Asset Management application, alongside existing modules for rail and reusable transportation containers (RTCs), to be followed soon by configurations for supply chain assets used in intermodal, truck and ocean modes, said Savi.

Savi said CanTRACK automatically updates a central data repository with check-out and check-in data as well as reports on contents, demurrage, storage and repairs. These solutions address long-standing problems associated with keeping track of air cargo containers as well as ensuring the security of their contents.
