Peterbilt Motors Co. awarded six attendees of the recent Mid-America Trucking Show with complimentary one-year TruckCare Preventive Maintenance programs. Peterbilt randomly selected two winners daily for the free offering during the show, which was held in March.

Bill Johnson, one of the winners and the owner of Newberry, FL-based Johnson Transport, said he is a firm believer in the benefits of preventive maintenance because he doesn't like surprises when it comes to the operation and uptime of his fleet.

"Regular servicing maintains equipment for top performance and keeps it going,” said Johnson, whose fleet of six Model 379s are used to haul dry van goods throughout the Southeast U.S. “Our uptime is quite high. In fact, we don't have any downtime.”

The other five winners were: C.W. Hudgins, an owner-operator from Mathews, VA; Ralph Johnson, an owner-operator from Laura, OH; Ed Talley, an owner-operator from Vista Hills, KY; Brad Teitler, an owner-operator from Albuquerque, NM, and Ian Warrack, a fleet owner from Strathmore, Alberta.

The prize is valued at $1,500, and includes a 75-point inspection, replacement of fuel, oil and coolant filters, chassis lube and priority scheduling and servicing.
