One of the largest manufacturers of street sweepers in the U.S. is planning to build GPS technology into its product line.

Elgin IL-based Elgin Sweeper Company plans to add vehicle tracking technology from Orlando, FL-based FleetBoss Global Positioning Solutions as original equipment. It will be available as a standard option in the Elgin product line. Previously manufactured Elgin equipment can be retrofitted to include the new fleet management systems, Elgin said.

"We consider this new feature to be a valuable benefit to our Sweeper line because customers will be able to use the data from the system to better manage the efficiency of their fleets," said Bill Krupowicz, group marketing director for Elgin Sweeper.
