FTR Associates to host freight summit

April 12, 2013

FTR Associates will host a State of Freight Summit, May 21-22, 2013, in Chicago. The first such summit will take place at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, IL.

The event will expand on the company’s webinar series and will provide a unique learning experience for those in the transportation industry, the firm said.

Day one of the Summit kicks off on Tuesday, May 21 with FTR’s State of Freight—Peak Shipping Season Insights. These sessions highlight topics including the economy, rail carload demand, trucking demand, and intermodal freight presented by respected FTR thought leaders, Noel Perry, Larry Gross, Eric Starks and Bill Witte, who will walk attendees through where the market is headed in the next six months.  Attendees will close the day in roundtable discussions with these and other FTR experts.

Day two involves an optional in-depth look at a particular transportation focus. On Wednesday, May 22 FTR will present Closer Look: Rail – Energy’s Impact on Rail Equipment. It’s becoming clear that changing energy markets are having dramatic impacts which extend far beyond their core products. This session will mirror the petrochemical industry by dividing the sessions into three key segmentations: upstream, midstream and downstream. This will enable attendees to directly link the market developments in the petrochemical industry with the rail equipment supply chain trends.  In addition to FTR’s experts, shippers and outside professionals will present to give attendees a more granular look at these dynamic and evolving markets.
