Goodyear offers new Dunlop steer tire

To breathe some new life into a venerable truck tire brand Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will market its latest tractor steer tire under the Dunlop name.

The new Dunlop SP384 steer tire is a mid-priced product that features enhanced casing, tread design and pressure distribution groove technology to help lower cost-per-mile and provide more miles to removal, said Larry Tucker, Goodyear’s marketing manager for linehaul tires

”This new tire gives the brand a complete portfolio for long-haul applications, joining Dunlop’s SP453 drive and SP181A trailer tires,” he said. “It fills a void in our product lineup for mid-priced steer tires.”

According to Tucker, the SP384 steer tire, available in standard and low-profile sizes, will provide traction and even, more uniform wear. An 18/32-in. tread depth and five-rib construction helps optimize tire tread wear, while the tire’s pressure distribution groove helps eliminate shoulder wear. Its lateral grooves, along with “pin blades”– serrations on the shoulder– help enhance traction, added Tucker.

The new Dunlop SP384 steer tire is backed by a five-year casing warranty and a two-retread maximum limited warranty.
