Hendrickson rolls out Softek

Hendrickson Truck System Group has launched production of its lighter weight Softek front steer suspension and axle system, which the company said has a 12,000 lb. capacity while saving up to 92 lbs. compared to traditional two-leaf suspensions.

According to Hendrickson, the Softek combines its Monoleaf steel spring, which eliminates inter-leaf friction, and its box-shaped Steertek axle, which resists horizontal, vertical and twisting forces to maintain better contact with the road.

“Hendrickson is putting more emphasis on technology that can increase payload capacity for truck owners without compromising performance. Softek has been engineered to reduce vehicle tare weight while delivering exceptional ride and handling,” said Sean Coleman, director of marketing and program management.

Ralph Norton, spokesman for Hendrickson, told FleetOwner that the Softek system is currently available as optional equipment for International trucks and will be available from other truck OEMs in the future.
