Jenkins wins driver award

America’s Road Team Captain Clarence Jenkins, Jr. received the Neill Darmstadter Professional Excellence Award at the 2008 National Truck Driving Championships for best exemplifying what it means to be a professional truck driver.

A resident of Poca, WV, Jenkins has competed in 13 National Truck Driving Championships, winning the five-axle competition in 1988. He is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Professional Truck Drivers Association and formerly was president of the West Virginia Association of Truck Driver Champions.

Contestants for the award were judged on driving record, skills, attitude and professionalism. They also must have competed at seven or more National Truck Driving Championships.

America’s Road Team is a public outreach program, sponsored by Volvo Trucks North America, whose members speak around the country about highway safety.
