Panasonic picks Navteq maps

Navteq has announced it has been selected by Panasonic to provide digital map data for the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico for Panasonic’s recently launched Strada CN-NVD905U navigation system. The system will also feature Sirius Traffic available through Sirius Satellite Radio.

The new system is Panasonic's first navigation product for the North American automotive aftermarket. According to NAVTEQ, it is designed to provide turn-by-turn voice guidance plus visual cues and features a seven-in., touch-panel color LCD monitor with a customizable destination menu for ease in route planning and destination searches.

The Strada receives live traffic information from Sirius Traffic, which uses Navteq Traffic data. Users who choose to subscribe can receive continuously updated traffic information in 50 markets across the U.S. and Canada, including visual notification of incidents and congestion.

The new tool is not all work and no play, however. CN-NVD905U also comes with entertainment and safety features, including Bluetooth capabilities for hands-free cell phone conversation, iPod Video, satellite radio integration options and SRS Circle Surround Automotive technology for enhanced audio performance.
