Pennsylvania awards grants to greener small companies

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has awarded 39 grants totaling $191,574 to small businesses looking to purchase equipment or implement strategies that reduce pollution. Of these companies, 19 are in the trucking industry.

The awards are part of the states’s Small Business Advantage Grant Program, which provides a 50% matching grant up to $7,500. To qualify, a small business must be based in Pennsylvania and employ less than 100 people.

The following trucking companies were awarded:

  • Hittman Transport Services - $3,750 to purchase and install an auxiliary power unit (APU) in long haul trailer to eliminate idling during layovers
  • McClymonds Supply & Transit - $7,500 to purchase and install 18 bunk heaters in trucks
  • Steve N. Truck LLC - $5,000 for an APU
  • Dave Podrasky Trucking - $4,000 for an APU
  • Robert A. Sloan Inc. - $7,500 for an APU
  • Dennis C. Llewellyn - $4,050 for an APU
  • Randall Cooper Trucking - $3,450 for an APU
  • Frank Horchen Trucking LLC - $7,500 for an APU
  • Daniel E. Crotsley - $397 for an APU
  • Mike Biondi Transport - $3,781 for an APU
  • Warren H. Hampton - $4,250 for an APU
  • TL MAC - $4,050 for an APU
  • Roger D. Shilling - $425 for an APU
  • Wallenpaupack Transportation - $3,781 for an APU
  • David L. Bender - $600 for an APU
  • Pete's Trucking - $3,987 for an APU
  • Ferguson Trucking - $7,500 for an APU
  • FMS Trucking & Excavating - $3,825 for an APU
  • Daniel W. Jollimore - $3,900 for an APU
