Penske scores $47-million police-fleet agreement

Penske Truck Leasing announced today it has been awarded a three-year fleet management and maintenance services contract valued at approximately $47 million to support the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. The contract goes into effect today.

“We are very pleased to be servicing the fleet needs of the nation's largest local law enforcement agency,” said Frank Mileto, sr. vp-new business ventures, Penske Truck Leasing. “We are well known for meticulous detail and high standards for vehicle maintenance. We use Six Sigma methods to drive down defects and maximize the vehicle up-time for our clients.”

Penske will provide vehicle maintenance and body shop repair work for more than 4,600 units, which includes police cars, motorcycles, buses and other specialized equipment. The vehicles will be serviced from 25 locations throughout the Los Angeles County area.

Penske is hiring approximately 110 local employees to support this contract. The majority of the employees are being transferred from the existing services provider to Penske.
