PrePass, a voluntary system that allows motor carriers to comply with state regulations without having to stop at weigh stations, is now operational at 280 sites in 28 states and used by nearly 450,000 trucks.

“South Carolina’s decision to deploy PrePass is a big boost to our carriers because it will save them time and fuel as they travel throughout the state and the Southeastern U.S.,” said Rick Todd, president of the South Carolina Trucking Association.

According to PrePass, it reduces lane-changing and congestion, making highways safer and saving carriers nearly $1.3 million in operational costs as well as reducing emissions by more than 470 million lbs.
