The California Highway Patrol in San Diego County yesterday began a 15-month enforcement effort focused on commercial vehicles and motorists driving near large trucks, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

A $1.7 million federal grant given to the state’s Office of Traffic Safety Officers will fund the initiative, which focuses on the Interstates 5, 8 and 15 corridors through the county.
