The “lake-effect” storms of historic proportions that have already buried a huge swath of western New York State under as much as six feet of snow are not done yet— up to another three feet of snow is forecast to fall on the region today. News reports have attributed eight deaths to the storm and that the heavy weight of the snow is causing some buildings to collapse.
State officials announced this morning-- Day 3 of the weather event-- that no motorists remain stranded on the New York State Thruway (I-90).
But they gave no indication of when they may reopen the vital east-west highway link.
