May 5, 2008 2:49 PM

StarTrak Systems, a subsidiary of Alanco Technologies, has announced the integration of its ReeferTrak system with Hegemon Electronics’ PLC4Trucks tractor identification system, allowing ReeferTrak to wirelessly report the unique ID of a tractor when a refrigerated trailer is connected to it, the company said.

Using the system, the Hegemon unit transmits a unique digital ID number to an assigned tractor to ensure it is picking up the correct trailer, eliminating driver intervention or error and improving efficiency, StarTrak said.

“Hegemon’s PLC4Trucks device, combined with existing, comprehensive ReeferTrak functionality, enhances our customers’ ability to accurately and completely measure their operational delivery cycles, saving fuel and tractor/trailer utilization,” said Tom Robinson, StarTrak executive vp.  “The function improves the efficiency of refrigerated transport customers in the food distribution, grocery dairy and truckload carrier markets.”
