The Truck Renting and Leasing Assn. (TRALA) and members of its Equipment and Technology Advisory Council (ETAC) this week traveled to get a first-hand look at the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s “Hire Vets First” training assistance program.

In an effort to relieve the growing national shortage of qualified maintenance technicians, TRALA has teamed up with the National Hire Veterans Committee.

“The military is providing men and women with top-notch skill training and experience, said TRALA president & CEO Peter Vroom. “Our industry wants to put these highly trained veterans to work after they have finished their military service to our country. These are respected positions that pay well and can provide great careers.”

The visit allowed senior maintenance executives to observe Dept. of Defense transition training, including a briefing on wheeled vehicle mechanic training and certification programs and to witness individual training.
