Estes Express Lines has gotten involved with two organizations – Give2TheTroops and Wreaths Across America – as part of its Encourage the Living, Honor the Fallen initiative to support the U.S. military and the men and women who protect this country and way of life.
Give2TheTroops is designed to encourage the delivery of care packages to active duty troops. Through the program, more than 13,000 Estes employees and their families will be able to donate items for the care packages through Dec. 2. Children will make cards and color pictures as well.
The care packages will be given to a programmed recommended by the Dept. of Defense and sent along to U.S. servicemen and service women deployed in combat and disaster-relief zones around the world.
“There is a long-standing history of military service and patriotism at Estes Express Lines, and we could think of no better way to commemorate the company’s 80th anniversary than by honoring our employees and all others who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom,” said Rob Estes, president & CEO. “The Encourage the Living, Honor the Fallen project is an excellent way for us—as individuals and as a community—to show our appreciation.”
Estes is also participating in the Wreaths Across America program, which honors those who gave their lives for this country by placing wreaths at gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery and at more than 600 other locations around the country.
Estes is donating wreaths in honor of its customers. This year’s event takes place on Dec. 10.
