At an industry event Thursday, Thermo King is unveiling a new trailer temperature control platform. The Precedent line is designed to deliver a double-digit fuel savings, best-in-class performance and lower lifecycle costs, while providing regulatory compliance and peace of mind for trailer owners and operators, the company said.
The three Precedent products will be compliant with new EPA Tier IV final regulations and feature a diesel direct electric architecture and a fuel injection system that “delivers optimal fuel injection at exactly the right time to control particulate matter emissions within the engine cylinders.” The result is a cleaner running engine that eliminates the need for an after-treatment system such as a diesel particulate filter, Thermo King said.
“Building on a long history of state-of-the-art engineering, we called on our global development teams to create breakthrough solutions that add value while providing regulatory compliance,” said Ray Pittard, president of Thermo King North America. “The innovative Precedent platform and new truck and APU solutions provide our customers with the peace of mind that they have met regulatory requirements while delivering leading performance, significant fuel savings and lower life cycle costs—all tested under real world conditions.”
The line includes:
Thermo King will also announce enhancements to its T-Series products and its TriPac Evolution APU.
On the T-Series, Thermo King will utilize an electronic throttling valve (ETV) to deliver improved pulldown and fuel efficiency and save up to 30% in fuel. The unit will also reach its setpoint up to 50% faster and run 17% less.
The full T-Series range will be offered in 2013 with new model names, including T-580R, T-680R, T-880R, T-1080R, T-680S, T-880S, T-1080S, and T-1080S Spectrum multi-temperature units.
The updated TriPac features an extended maintenance interval of 1,500 hours, a new flash-loadable control system and improved service access for easier maintenance.
