Top truck drivers across the U.S. are heading to the "Super Bowl of Safety,” the 2008 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC), which will be held August 19 to 23 in Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Sponsored by the American Trucking Assns. (ATA), NTDC contestants will be the state champions from all 50 states, selected from eight different classes of competition.

The four-day competition will challenge contestants driving skills as well as knowledge of safety, equipment and the industry through real world obstacles, ATA said.

At the end of the event, a national champion professional truck driver, individual champions in each class, and a state champion team will be selected.
