Veritable Vegetable awarded Green Fleet of the Year

Veritable Vegetable (VV) is the nation’s oldest organic produce company, according to the company.

Produce arrives on one side of the VV warehouse facility, where it is transferred to cold bays and then moved to the other side of the facility to be loaded onto pallets and into trucks and trailers for delivery.

Kenworth hybrid trucks are reducing the company’s fuel bill every month, according to Tom Howard, transportation systems manager.

Assistant transportation manager, Laura Parker, fleet transportation systems manager, Tom Howard, and Christine Adams, transportation manager, (with CEO Mary Jane Evans center) are focused on the long term, including maximizing fuel efficiency and sustainability.

Veritable Vegetable runs three shifts. Employees have the opportunity to participate in a program that entitles them to take home specified units of fresh produce from a special store area set aside for that purpose.
