Meritor Wabco’s lane departure warning now an option on Freightliner models

Nov. 6, 2013

Meritor Wabco has announced that its OnLane lane departure warning system is now an available option on select Freightliner models. The system can be ordered on the Freightliner Cascadia and Cascadia Evolution.

OnLane, powered with SafeTrak technology by Takata, is a forward-looking, vision-based lane departure warning system designed to monitor road markings and the vehicle’s position in the lane, the company said. The new system delivers distinct and separate audible warnings to the driver if the vehicle leaves its lane without the use of turn signals.

OnLane also provides a unique feature called driver alertness warning (DAW), which detects erratic or degraded driving based on lane weaving and provides a warning to the driver. This helps drivers stay aware of dangerous driving situations caused by fatigue or distraction, Meritor Wabco added.

“As the market leader in collision mitigation systems in North America, Meritor Wabco’s OnLane helps improve safe driving, particularly when used as part of an overall integrated safety system,” said Carsten Duevell,  senior director, Vehicle Control Systems, Meritor Wabco.

The OnLane lane departure warning system is a one-box solution integrating a camera and electronics. OnLane allows for quick and simple installation. Vehicle alerts and warnings can be transmitted to fleet management systems through a telematics system. In addition, OnLane can be equipped as a retrofit solution.
