Convoy Technologies to leverage SmartDrive solutions

Oct. 24, 2014

Convoy Technologies, a provider of camera systems, is partnering with SmartDrive Systems to give its customers an expanded view of their vehicles and specific risk areas.

SmartDrive provides driving performance solutions, including onboard cameras and video-based safety programs.

As part of the partnership, Convoy Technologies’ solutions will be certified for integration with SmartDrive’s open platform and Assurance 360 product line, the companies said. Assurance 360 provides up to a four camera deployment configuration.

By utilizing existing onboard cameras, such as blind-spot and backup cameras, with SmartDrive’s video-based safety program, Convoy Technologies customers can tap into powerful analytics and a proven driving improvement program that reduces collisions, lowers cost and protects drivers when they are not at fault.

“We are proud to join forces with Convoy Technologies—a true innovator in delivering camera solutions that improve fleet safety,” said Jason Palmer, president of SmartDrive. “This partnership further demonstrates the value our open platform brings to fleets—enabling them to take advantage of existing systems from Convoy that seamlessly integrate with SmartDrive’s solution. By teaming up with Convoy and other partners, our customers will benefit from ongoing flexibility and choice.”

SmartDrive’s video-based safety program identifies unsafe driving with an open platform that captures video, vehicle, audio and driving data, and automatically offloads footage for expert review and analysis. With SmartDrive Assurance, fleets can select from packages that allow them to focus on their top priority collision risks, including those caused by backing, unintended lane changes, roll-overs and close following from passenger vehicles.

“It’s exciting for Convoy Technologies and the industry as a whole that an innovative company such as SmartDrive is continuously finding ways to enhance its product—it demonstrates its forward-thinking company culture and the high level of commitment to customers,” said Blake Gasca, CEO of Convoy Technologies. “SmartDrive and Convoy Technologies share a common goal of improving fleet safety with fast insight to the specific risk areas that cause collisions and increase costs. By integrating our new external and wireless camera technologies with SmartDrive’s industry leading safety program, we ensure our fleet customers are getting the best solution available today and for the foreseeable future. As two industry leaders, with complementary technologies, we look forward to the added value we will bring to customers through this partnership.”
