Firm chooses Telit solution for on-time concrete delivery

Oct. 30, 2014

Road King Technologies, a fleet management and automation company focused on the ready mix concrete industry, is using Telit Wireless Solutions’ products for tracking and route optimization. Road King has integrated the Telit HE910 and JF2 modules in its RK3000 tracking units to enable its unique Trac18 GPS service.

Concrete delivery is complicated, Telit explained, as severe time restrictions make route optimization critical. Moreover, to prevent hardening, mixer trucks have more moving parts than most fleet vehicles – meaning more parts to maintain in proper working order.

Using the RK3000 to monitor each mixer, Road King provides a suite of cloud-based data collection, visualization and data archiving tools to customers.

“The Telit HE910 cellular module helps us deliver critical fleet data to the cloud and provides an easy upgrade and expansion path to grow our business, while the JF2 gives us accurate location data at very tight intervals,” said Harry Marks, president of Road King. “As a result, we’re able to give our customers a competitive edge with unparalleled insight into their vehicles, water usage, quantity control, dispatch wait times and more.”

“Road King’s service is an ideal example of how M2M technology can transform business,” said Mike Ueland, president of Telit Americas. “Not only have they achieved an outstanding, purpose-built solution for concrete logistics, they continue to uncover hidden values from the data they collect – whether that’s identifying underperforming or noncompliant drivers or protecting their clients against legal claims.”
