Firms integrate products for streamlined processes for tow operators

Sept. 16, 2013

TomTom Business Solutions and Station Computer Systems (SSCS) have integrated two of their products to produce a new solution that offers streamlined work order and dispatch processes.

The integration of TomTom’s WebFleet and SSCS’ Digital Dispatch programs will improve efficiencies by reducing the manually-intensive aspects of dispatching and receiving work orders, eliminate manual-entry errors by drivers, and increase visibility into vehicle location and driver behavior, TomTom said.

SSCS has the industry’s only authorized interface to AAA’s D/2000 dispatching system, providing additional opportunities for towing customers. The new solution from TomTom and SSCS recognizes and processes many of the communications from the D/2000, adding an additional layer of useful integration, the company said.

Integrated together, TomTom Webfleet and SSCS’s solution bridge the gap between the office and tow truck driver by integrating back office software with real-time location information. This reduces administrative tasks and opens a real-time window on driver location and status for management improving decision-making for the widest possible variety of jobs, including impounds, insurance service, commercial, police-related and motor clubs.

“Increasing efficiencies represents a major growth opportunity for towers,” said Matt Gunzenhaeuser, U.S. sales director for TomTom Business Solutions.  “Saving time on administrative tasks translates into more time to drive revenue.  TomTom’s integration with SSCS’s Digital Dispatch eliminates manual tasks for both management and drivers, freeing resources for revenue-generating activities.”

TomTom’s fleet management solution provides visibility into vehicle location and driver behavior and optimizes travel with professional navigation using real-time traffic data and information on commercial vehicle restrictions.

“SSCS’s solutions for the towing industry focus on giving towers the tools they need to uncover new opportunities,” said Al Stoeberl, SSCS vice president of sales and marketing. “Our interface with TomTom allows the driver and dispatching office to communicate seamlessly, automatically updating the status, location, vehicle description and other particulars of each call.  This reduces manual intervention and the risk for errors that goes along with it.”

Digital Dispatch allows users to record calls as they come in from motor clubs, police departments, commercial accounts and automotive repair shops.  Calls are then dispatched electronically to a driver equipped with the TomTom PRO and the driver can update call status from their device without dispatcher intervention.  Calls from AAA appear on the dispatch screen automatically where they can be managed like any other call.
