Food safety: What’s in the fridge?

Sept. 4, 2009
President Obama refocused attention on what refrigerated motor carriers have always known-- that truck fleets play a vital role in helping to assure the safety of the U.S. food supply from point of origin to the end consumer, or “from farm to fork” in the current political parlance.

When President Obama dubbed the U.S. food safety system “a hazard to public health” and pledged to greatly increase the budget for food safety measures, he refocused attention on what refrigerated motor carriers have always known-- that truck fleets play a vital role in helping to assure the safety of the U.S. food supply from point of origin to the end consumer, or “from farm to fork” in the current political parlance.

In recognition of this renewed focus on food safety, Icebox Solutions recently announced the release of their newly updated and expanded website: www.iceboxsolutions.com. The updated site will continue to feature information about the company’s products and services, but it will also provide refrigerated transportation and distribution news, political updates directly associated with the U.S. food supply, and environmental information including new “green” concepts.

“We expect to continue to see enormous changes in the transportation industry and specifically within the process of how our food supply is managed and distributed,” said Kim Doray, owner of Icebox Solutions. “Some of these changes will be great for the industry, but some of the proposed legislation may need a closer look. We will bring the industry both sides of the story in our news section and look forward to being a part of the positive changes that lie ahead.”
