Networkfleet boosts sensor capability

Additional vehicle diagnostic data, such as the activation/deactivation of power takeoff (PTO) equipment, can now be reported to a truck’s onboard computer through a sensor expansion module (SEM) hardware device with software from Networkfleet.

The SEM detects voltage changes such as those associated with secondary engine on/off and door open/close and users receive detailed reports on sensor activity showing both the duration of events and location of the events. The information provided can be incorporated with GPS location and engine diagnostics already reported through the Networkfleet 3500 system to offer a total look at a vehicle’s diagnostics to improve efficiency and lower costs, the company said.

The SEM is backwards-compatible with all 3500 hardware and connects directly between the 3500 and its harness.
