A new application from Pacific DataVision will allow mobile workers to simply speak into their Sprint cell phone and convert and code that information for use by office personnel.
The Sprint NextMail Locator with Photos application captures a voice recording and with GPS and photo functionality turned on, will attach GPS coordinates, an interactive map, street address and unlimited photos of the current situation. The company said the technology will allow for verification of cargo location, package damages, mechanical issues with vehicles and more.
There is no text-messaging needed with the system.
According to Pacific DataVision, by transmitting the voice recording as an email, drivers are afforded greater flexibility, particularly when driving in states where text messaging is banned and/or hands-free technology is required. The ability to create a “package” that includes GPS data and photos only adds to the usefulness of the application, the company said.
