LOUISVILLE. A new twist on load-matching services allows truckers to find and bid for loads using their cell phones. “Speed is really what you need in today’s freight market, so cutting down on the steps drivers and fleets need to take to search for available loads is an important part of that,” David VanBlaircom, marketing manager for GetLoaded.com, told FleetOwner at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
The company’s mobile version allows truckers and brokers to match loads and trucks from web-enabled cell phones, he explained, so they no longer need to use a laptop or desktop computer to access loads and match trucks.
Bryan Jones, president of Getloaded.com, said this gives owner-operators, small fleets and brokers a new way to search for loads and trucks. It also allows users to access their saved searches.
VanBlaircom said that speeding up the load-matching process by using the company’s mobile service does not mean sacrificing information. “We’re still giving truckers all the information they need to properly negotiate rates – access to shipper credit reports, rate indexes for particular lanes, everything they need to put a load into the proper context,” he said.
He added that GetLoaded is also working on a new load matching service designed to break up trips to give truckers access to better freight rates. That service that should be up and running by the end of this year.
