Mack, Volvo saluted for wellness programs

Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA), both units of Sweden’s Volvo Group, have each been honored by the National Business Group on Health as one of the leading corporations with programs that promote a healthy workplace in the U.S.

Over 60 companies received the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award at three different levels. Both Mack and VTNA were among 17 companies honored at the highest level, Platinum.

According to Helen Darling, president of the National Business Group on Health , the two truck OEMs were among “ 63 companies recognized this year for their employee health and wellness programs… [putting them] at the vanguard of a national movement to promote a system-wide culture of health emphasizing prevention, exercise, and eating right.”

Now in its fifth year, the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards recognize employers that have embraced a culture of wellness and are working collaboratively to improve their workers’ health, productivity and quality of life. The National Business Group on Health is a non-profit, membership organization of some of the county’s largest employers, including 60 Fortune 100 businesses.
