The installation of convenient island pumps for dispensing diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) will begin next year at TravelCenters of America (TA), the company announced.
TravelCenters expects to install about 50 island dispensers throughout the country for trucks that require the liquid to run SCR engines.
“We are excited to have worked so hard and so closely with key industry players to develop and bring to our customers the best solution for their DEF needs,” said Thomas O’Brien, president & CEO. “The technology we will employ integrates the DEF dispenser with our point of sale and other systems so that drivers can purchase fuel and diesel exhaust fluid in a single transaction, and TA is the first travel center chain to bring this capability to market.”
All TA and Petro-branded locations currently carry 2.5 gal. containers of DEF available inside at the fuel desk or truck maintenance counters.
TravelCenter locations in Lodi, OH; and Nashville, TN; and the Petro Stopping Centers locations in Spokane, WA; Kingman, AZ; and El Paso, TX, will be the first facilities to receive the new islands.
