SmartWatt Energy Inc recently completed a LED lighting retrofit at Americold’s temperature-controlled storage facility in Gouldsboro PA that resulted in a short, 13-month payback. The project produces higher-quality light, will save $195,806 per year in lighting costs, and will result in $67,308 per year in coincidence cooling savings.
“We pride ourselves on custom designing energy-efficiency solutions for our customers that not only save energy and optimize system performance, but provide a high return on investment as well,” said Tarek El-Gohary, vice-president of East Coast operations for SmartWatt Energy. “This project allows Americold to operate more efficiently.”
“SmartWatt Energy designs projects that save energy and money,” said Fred Walker, Americold’s vice-president of engineering. “The quick payback, combined with the reduction in greenhouse emissions, are some of the key reasons we chose SmartWatt Energy for multiple facilities nationwide.”
Americold partnered with SmartWatt Energy’s Wilkes-Barre PA office for the Gouldsboro project. Earlier in 2011, SmartWatt Energy completed LED lighting retrofit projects at Americold facilities in Rochelle IL, Victorville CA, Russellville AR, City of Industries CA, Allentown PA, and Fort Worth TX. SmartWatt Energy teams will be upgrading an additional Americold facility in July 2011.
