Preferred Freezer Services enhances warehouse management

Preferred Freezer Services (PFS) has implemented dramatic improvements to its warehouse management system.

Preferred Freezer Services (PFS), a provider of advanced design and engineered temperature-controlled warehouses, has implemented dramatic improvements to its warehouse management system (WMS).

The enhancement includes increased speed for customer reporting, multiple-report generation, and strategic programming upgrades. The company took its existing WMS and migrated to new and improved hardware, increasing speed 25 times the prior performance level. This increase in performance is due to the use of solid-state drives (SSDs) as well as additional memory and CPU processing power.

PFS also improved its existing disaster recover system by implementing VMware and Oracle DataGuard. The entire customer base will find dramatic improvements with Preferred Online, the company’s real-time customer web portal.

Robert Castaldi, director–IT/MIS, said, “User Acceptance Testing has concluded, and the customer response on the new system has been well-received. We not only improved performance, but the technology we implemented can support future company growth.”

PFS has grown from a single facility in 1989 to 31 locations. It operates in locations throughout the United States with facilities in New York/New Jersey, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia, as well as global locations in Vietnam and China.
