EV platform Synop offers initiative to enhance software-hardware compatibility

Oct. 25, 2023
'Works with Synop' allows customers to explore what electric vehicle supply equipment is compatible with the company's software. It also ensures users have a direct line to customer support.

Synop, a platform for optimizing EV charging for commercial electric fleets, has launched Works with Synop, an initiative that provides customers with information about hardware-software compatibility. Works with Synop streamlines the selection of electric vehicle supply equipment by providing customers with a curated list of hardware options compatible with Synop’s software platform, according to a company release.

Opting for hardware from the Works with Synop list ensures customers have a direct line of support from the company, according to the release. The program offers a streamlined process to report issues through Synop’s software platform.

“Over the past three years, we’ve learned that the charging experience is based on more than the numbers on a spec sheet; it also depends on things like provisioning, tight alignment on firmware updates, and well-defined support channels,” said Gagan Dhillon, CEO and co-founder of Synop. “We’ve been working across engineering, customer support, and implementation teams to collaborate with a growing list of hardware makers that meet a high bar for those functions, and are excited to release that list today.”

The initial partners for the Works with Synop program include BorgWarner, Thomas Built Buses, Power Electronics, and Zerova.

The company intends to expand the program into various categories, including vehicles, telematics, and energy management systems, according to the release.
