Fleets interested in calculating their carbon footprint will receive some answers at a panel discussion led by Stephen B. Russell at The Masters' Seminar, which takes place one day before the start of NAFA's 2009 Institute & Expo in New Orleans, LA.
“The time has come when fleet managers need to know how their fleet affects the environment,” says Russell. The seminar, entitled, “Carbon Footprint Calculation and Management,” will help explain the contribution vehicle emissions have on greenhouse gases and will look at emissions reductions strategies, including alternative fuel options.
Fleet managers will learn how to calculate the carbon footprint of their fleet, the effect different types of fuel have on the environment, and how to track their fleet's environmental performance over time. The seminar is led by Jason Mathers, fleet project manager, Corporate Partnerships Program, for the Environmental Defense Fund.
U.S. EPA fleet mandates will also be explained and the new EDF-NAFA carbon emissions calculator will be demonstrated.
“If a fleet manager hasn't been asked by upper management or the City Council yet what the carbon footprint of their fleet is, that day is coming soon,” adds Russell.
The Masters' Seminar will be held on April 24. The Institute & Expo runs April 25-28 and features Graeme Maxton as the keynote speaker.
