Long Beach, CA. The 2011 Alternative Clean Transportation Expo (ACT) opened yesterday at the Long Beach Convention Center with tours of advanced alternative fueling sites across Southern California, including the grand opening of Ryder’s fueling facility for liquefied natural gas trucks in nearby Rancho Dominguez. The exposition had nearly 50 vehicles on display representing many alternative fuel types and fleet applications, including transit buses, Class-8 tractors, utility and refuse trucks, light-duty passenger vehicles and more. Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Ford, General Motors and others are among those exhibiting trucks.
More than 1,100 attendees are expected to gather at the three-day event, designed to showcase successes in advanced electric, hybrid, hydrogen, natural gas, propane and renewable fuel technologies. Against the backdrop of rising oil prices and gasoline and diesel fuel at more than $4 per gallon, ACT Expo will examine the current challenges facing the clean transportation industry today and highlight opportunities for wider adoption of alternative fuels.
