Dillon Transport, Clean Energy agree on CNG stations

Oct. 9, 2014

SAN DIEGO, CA. Under a three-year agreement to supply Dillon Transport with compressed natural gas (CNG), Clean Energy Fuels Corp. will open three new “truck-friendly” public fueling stations in Atlanta, Houston and Midland, TX, by the end of the year. Announced at the American Trucking Assns.’ annual management conference, the agreement calls for Clean Energy to supply Dillon with approximately 2.5 million DGEs (diesel equivalent gallons) of natural gas annually.

Dillon currently has 200 heavy-duty trucks now running on CNG and expects to continue converting the rest of its 500-truck fleet from diesel as it takes delivery of new equipment. It already has a CNG fueling station operated by Clean Energy at its terminal in Dallas.

“The successful operation of our Dallas Clean Energy station and our current natural gas fleet operations have proven a lower cost-per-mile than our diesel fleet,” said James Dillon, president of Dillon Transport. “Converting the rest of our fleet with Clean Energy as our preferred fuel supplier is an extension of our successful natural gas fueling track record.”

The Midland station will be located next to a Pilot Flying J Travel Center and will have two LNG lanes and two CNG lanes. The Houston and Atlanta stations will each have two CNG lanes, according to Clean Energy.
