Alliance AutoGas pursues CARB certification for 2016 Ford Transit

Dec. 18, 2015
Alliance AutoGas has announced the pursuit of CARB certification for the 2016 Ford Transit.

Alliance AutoGas has announced the pursuit of CARB certification for the 2016 Ford Transit.

“The Ford Transit platform has already become Alliance AutoGas’s most popular bi-fuel propane autogas product,” said Ed Hoffman of Alliance AutoGas.  “With our sales success on the 2015 model, our customers are anxious for a 50 state solution. There has been no precedent set for a light duty bi-fuel autogas vehicle to obtain CARB approval. The emissions requirements and advanced diagnostic requirements have been a great hurdle.  Our engineering group has conducted an extensive feasibility study and we believe our advanced technology can be meet those technical hurdles.”

Official EPA testing on propane has demonstrated a 13% reduction in CO2 and 33% reduction in Methane emissions, according to Alliance. The EPA has identified these pollutants as the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, the company noted.

Alliance AutoGas is accepting orders for its 49 State 2016 Ford Transit. With a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty and complete ‘Plug and Play’ solution, the company said it is prepared to help fleets reduce their fuel expense and meet their sustainability initiatives.

Certifications are secured by Blossman Services Inc. (BSI), the equipment distributor for Alliance AutoGas. According to the company, BSI is the “exclusive United States distributor and the Manufacturer of Record (MOR) for EPA and CARB certifications on behalf of Alliance AutoGas and its members.”
