German manufacturer MAFI Transport-Systeme GmbH will release an electric version of its diesel T 230 terminal tractor, called the T 230e, in the U.S. through its distributor Eastern Lift Truck Co., Inc. The yard truck designed for seaport and industrial use, will be available in Spring 2021.
Features of the T 230e include:
- Hydraulically operated fifth wheel
- Spacious cabin
- Optimal visibility
- Low maintenance
- Small turning radius
MAFI, founded in 1957, offers several yard trucks for seaport and container handling operations, and logistics and distribution centers.
By swapping out the diesel engine for a battery with up to 177 kwh capacity, the new T230e will provide a cleaner, more environmentally friendly option, without loss of performance.
“T 230 operators, who have become accustomed to the comfort and productivity of the T 230, will now enjoy a much quieter operation,” said MAFI Sales Director Jürgen Thorwarth. “Maintenance and cost of operation for the T 230e will be considerably less than typical internal combustion engine yard trucks, as less wear and tear is exerted on componentry.”
