Pana-Pacific will distribute Maxwell Technologies’ ultracapacitor-based engine start module (ESM) in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The agreement runs for one year and makes the ESM available through all original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket truck dealerships.
Maxwell’s ESM is designed for Class 4-8 trucks and uses the company’s patented ultracapacitor technology to aid vehicles in starting in temperatures ranging from -40 deg. C to 65 deg. C. Benefits of the system include maintenance-free operations, standard Group 31 battery form factor for easy integration with battery systems, and built-in quick charging system.
“Pana-Pacific has a long history and great reputation as an integrator in the commercial vehicle market and we’re very pleased to be working with them to make our new engine start module widely available to owner operators and fleets,” said Van Andrews, Maxwell’s senior vice president, sales and marketing. “Through the agreement, buyers are now able to walk into any heavy-duty truck dealership in the U.S., Canada or Mexico and get the engine start module right off the shelf or order it.”
The ultracapacitor technology stores energy in an electric field, Maxwell said, allowing for charge and discharge in fractions of a second.
