Specialized Transportation Inc. (STI) has purchased a combination of 112 new trailers from Great Dane Trailers, Kentucky Trailer, and Strick Corp.

STI provides high-value product logistics using special equipment and highly engineered trailers. The new trailers will be equipped with the latest in asset management technology to provide cargo integrity, safety, efficiency and maintenance reduction, STI said.

All the trailers will feature air-ride suspensions and tuck-under lift gates. About half of the orders will include 10-ft. side loading doors for loading and unloading of very large products. They will also include doubleslot logistics posts to enable nearly 4,500 internal cargo fastening points and decking flexibility.

“With STI’s safety culture, we instinctively identified non-standard placement of equipment to
ensure safety of the drivers and those that may encounter an STI trailer in operation,” said Tim
Hughes, STI’s director of safety.

STI’s tires are SmartWay certified and the trailers are equipped with an integrated tire inflation system for improved efficiency, reliability, and overall tire life. There is also satellite-based tracking.
